Interlocking Tiles

Surfaces

Concrete

Tiles can be laid directly onto cured concrete bases by simply loose laying in a brick bond style using the interlocking pins provided.
Edging should be installed where possible to prevent movement at the outer edges. Edging can be concrete, timber or even our rubber edging products.
If no edging exists our XP-2435 adhesive can be used to bond the tiles to the concrete at the edges.

Type 1/Hardcore

Tiles can be laid directly onto compacted type 1 in a brick bond style using the interlocking pins provided. Ensure the type 1 is compacted and level before laying.
Edging should be installed where possible to prevent movement at the outer edges. Edging can be concrete, timber or even our rubber edging products.

Soil

Tiles can be laid directly onto solid in a brick bond style using the interlocking pins provided. Compact and level the solid as much a possible prior to laying.
As soil is soft and subject to movement you may find the levels change slightly through time. If this is a concern compacted type 1 or a concrete base should be laid first.
Edging should be installed where possible to prevent movement at the outer edges. Edging can be concrete, timber or even our rubber edging products.

Existing Paving / Tarmac

Tiles can be laid directly onto existing paving in a brick bond style using the interlocking pins provided.
Level the existing paving as much as possible prior to laying and ensure the existing paving is structurally sound.
Edging should be installed where possible to prevent movement at the outer edges. Edging can be concrete, timber or even our rubber edging products.
If no edging exists our XP-2435 adhesive can be used to bond the tiles to the existing paving at the edges.



How To Lay


Dflect Tiles over 25mm are supplied with interlocking pins and they should be laid butt jointed in a brick bond formation as shown below.

Our tiles are easily cut using a sharp knife or a fine toothed jigsaw.

We also recommend adhering the outside edge of the first and last row of the layout to avoid any movement of the tiles if no edge restraint exists. Please feel free to contact us to discuss your specific requirements.



We also offer our own specially formulated XP 2435 PU Adhesive that has been designed for use with rubber tiles. As SBR rubber tiles have a high thermal coefficient of expansion it is important to use the correct adhesive and method.



NON Interlocking Tiles

Concrete

Tiles can be laid directly onto fully cured concrete bases. Tiles should be laid loose initially to allow them to acclimatise.Non interlocking tiles should be laid with a 3-4mm joint.
Adhere the tiles to the concrete using our XP 2435 adhesive. The adhesive should be applied in a 3mm bead. 500mm tiles should have four lines applied to the back and 1000 x 1000 tiles 8 lines.
Edging should be installed where possible to prevent movement at the outer edges. Edging can be concrete, timber or even our rubber edging products.

Type 1/Hardcore

We recommend the use of our Dflect interlocking tiles only on Type 1 / Hardcore.

Soil

We recommend the use of our Dflect interlocking tiles only on soil.

Existing Paving / Tarmac

Tiles can be laid directly onto existing paving or Tarmac. Tiles should be laid loose initially to allow them to acclimatise. Non interlocking tiles should be laid with a 3-4mm joint.

Non interlocking tiles should be laid with a 3-4mm joint and adhered to the base below using our XP 2435 Adhesive.
